His Confession
The bus came to a screeching halt as a small puppy was crossing the road. We all were dancing like mad and couldn’t see this sudden stop coming, and thus, we all fell on each other! She stood dangerously close to the door and, on an impulse, I held her hand and pulled her close to me. Our eyes locked for a moment and then we looked away. “You might have fallen,” I said. “Thanks,” she replied. We continued dancing, but I couldn’t tear my eyes off her. She was magical. She had an air of magnificence around her, yet she was simply dressed. I felt so strongly attracted towards her and I couldn’t stop myself. Even after the promises I had made to myself, I felt like breaking every single one of them.

It was evening by the time we reached our resort. We were visiting a club later that night and everyone was already excited for the event. I felt a strong urge to listen to my heart and I found myself running in that direction, even before I could resist myself.

Her Tale
I found the doorbell of our room in the resort ringing. Four of us were staying in the room and all of them were talking to their partners on the phone. ‘You bitches, ‘ I murmured and went to answer the door. I opened the door and saw him standing in front of me. My heart skipped a bit. Even in his pyjamas, he looked astonishing. “Want to go out on a date and ditch the club?” he asked me, breaking me out of my reverie. Without a second thought I uttered,”Yes.”
           I opened the door and found him waiting. We stared at each other for a moment until he said, “You look beautiful.” I blushed. He was in a denim blue hoodie T-shirt with black ripped jeans. I could smell Calvin Klein and I was already intoxicated by his presence. We went to places that night and had deep conversations. By the time it was midnight, we were already heading to our resort on a bike he had rented. We reached our resort and I was heading towards our room when he called from behind,”Milie?”
“Yes?”
He kissed her on the forehead and said, “Today was the most beautiful day of my life. I know both of us are never going to get this day back in our lives since someone is waiting for our ‘Yes’ in our lives and we would choose them a thousand times over each other because after all, we know the truth, they can keep us happier than we ever can. But, you would be the most magical person I ever met.”

It’s five years since that incident. They have learnt so many things about love. They still yearn for each other but they know they can never make each other happy. She misses him, his smile, his eyes, his concerned look in the bus, his stealing glances, his everything. He misses her, her hair, her aura, her scent and everything related to her. Yet, it was important to close that chapter and move ahead.
