I saw you yesterday, in the parking lot,
You looked as beautiful as ever.
Your hair still is the darkest shade of brown,
Your eyes dull the shine of amber.
You were talking, smiling over a call,
And I lost all of myself in that moment.
I felt a longing, tugging at my heart,
Urging me to bathe in the waters of torment.
A part of me wanted to reach out to you,
Ask you how you have been.
But the other part knew I couldn’t,
That nonchalant, I have never been.
So, I stood there, watching you from a distance,
As you made your exit from the parking,
Wanting to chase you, catch you, hold you,
But also not wanting to act upon that longing.
